Star Spangled Ice Cream

A. Star Spangled Ice Cream is for real even though some people may think our flavor names are over the top. And not only real, but really, really delicious. Star Spangled is a private label brand made under the supervision of an experienced, Baltimore-based producer of high-end gourmet ice cream.

Q. $76 for 4 quarts of ice cream?! Are you kidding me?

A. As with other perishable gourmet gift products like steaks, seafood, etc., the costs of dry ice packaging and UPS 2-day shipping make ordering by mail more expensive than buying the same items in a supermarket.  However, Star Spangled's prices and quality actually match or surpass most other high-end mail order gourmet gift ice creams (including Ben & Jerry's) - plus our labels are funnier!

Q. Is Star Spangled available in stores?

A. If you live in the Baltimore area, you can now buy Star Spangled at Sweet Annie's, 1421 York Road, Lutherville, Maryland. Discussions are underway with distributors and retailers in other US locations as well -- so keep visiting our website and join our e-mail list for updates.  If you think of it, put in a good word for us with your local retailer.  And if you know anyone in the food distribution business who might be interested, please have them contact us!

Q. Is Star Spangled kosher certified? Do you make fat free ice cream?

A. For now, the answer to both questions is "no" - but we appreciate the tremendous interest that our Jewish and health-conscious friends have expressed, and will certainly keep people's dietary needs in mind as we expand our product line.

Q. Can I send Star Spangled outside of the US, or to our troops in Iraq?

A. No. The law requires that we ship within the US only. Of course, you can send Star Spangled to military bases inside the US.

Q. You say that you proudly donate 10% of your profits to charitable organizations that support the men and women of the US Armed Forces, as well as US veterans. Which charitable organizations specifically?

A. We donate to the Oliver North / Sean Hannity Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships to the children of those who have been killed or permanently disabled while on active military duty. We also donate to the Gun Owners Foundation Gun Safety Project. We will gladly consider your suggestions as well!

Q. Does Moxley's own Star Spangled or endorse your conservative politics?

A. Moxley's, a Baltimore-based award-winning producer of super premium gourmet ice cream, is not affiliated with Star Spangled in any way except as a vendor who handles our production needs. We have never discussed politics with Moxley's owner and have no idea whether he is conservative, liberal or apolitical. He's a stand-up guy who makes great ice cream, and that's good enough for us.
